Customer Requirements

  • This project is a professional theater in Chao Zhou, mainly used for artistic performances, Chaozhou musical dramas, traditional operas, and conference reports. The original space had long reverberation time and obvious sound quality defects such as sound focusing and echoes, which seriously affected the clarity of speeches and the effect of musical performances. We provided a customized acoustic solution with Class A fire-rated grooved acoustic panels, successfully optimizing the acoustic environment of the theater.

Solution

We designed a full acoustic solution for Chao Zhou Theater:

1.Acoustic Simulation & Modeling: Conducted reverberation time calculation and computer simulation of the hall sound quality model to determine the optimal layout and quantity of acoustic panels.

2.Material Selection: Adopted 13-3 and 28-4 Grooved Acoustic Panels with Class A Fire Retardant, which offer high sound absorption efficiency (NRC 0.80–0.85) and meet strict public space fire safety standards.

3.Installation Guidance: Provided detailed installation node diagrams for acoustic materials, ensuring the panels were mounted firmly and aesthetically without affecting the theater’s interior design.

 

  • In the initial stage of the plan: Use calculation sheets to quickly estimate the reverberation time, and determine the range of sound absorption and the direction of material selection.

  • Scheme deepening: Import the CAD model into ODEON, conduct precise modeling and simulation, and optimize the material distribution and spatial form

Project Result

  • The reverberation time was controlled within the professional theater standard (≤1.6s at 500–1000Hz), significantly improving speech clarity and musical performance effect.
  • Sound quality defects such as sound focusing and echoes were completely eliminated, ensuring the normal operation of the sound reinforcement system.
  • All acoustic materials met Class A fire retardant standard, complying with the safety requirements of public theaters.
